Population Balance and CFD Simulation of Particle Aggregation and Growth in a Continuous Confined Jet Mixer for Hydrothermal Synthesis of Nanocrystals

Population balance and computational fluid dynamics models are built integrated to carry out a simulation study of the reactive crystallisation process in confined jet mixer (CJM) for continuous flow synthesis TiO2 nanoparticles at supercritical water condition. In population model, crystal growth size is modelled as being due combined nanocrystal aggregation well surface growth. A free molecular model used predict particle aggregation. The performance compared with that only consider mechanism enlargement. It was found gives more accurate prediction distribution.
